The supercharger kit will deliver some big performance numbers when it goes on sale next year.
The sister company to HSV teased an audio file of a supercharged V8 on Instagram (below), with a spokesperson for Walkinshaw confirming to CarAdvice the high-performance Chevrolet Silverado will arrive in the first quarter of 2021.
A distinctive supercharger whine can be heard as the engine is taken up to its redline on a dyno, as the company finalises calibration.
While details have yet to be released, it’s expected the kit will deliver well in excess of 500kW – an increase of more than 50 per cent over the Silverado’s current output of 313kW. Torque is thought to jump from 624Nm to more than 850Nm.
The Silverado’s supercharger kit will be offered as part of the company’s ‘Fury Pack’ for the American pick-up, the company has confirmed, which adds a sports exhaust, a 2-inch (51mm) suspension lift, 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels, an optional brake upgrade, and some visual add-ons.
