As per Google Trends data, the holiday season is the time when searches for card games witness a steep surge. But the year 2020 shattered all the previous records, reaching a milestone of popularity. The searches saw a surge of 112% between March and May.
The card game popularity is determined by Google search data and analysts at Betway have listed out the most popular card games across the globe. They’ve also predicted which up-and-coming games might join the classics in terms of popularity.
From a list of 25 countries, Betway calculated the most popular card games:
- Blackjack (Played in 14 countries)
- Stud (Played in 4 countries)
- Teen Patti (Played in 3 countries)
- Baccarat (Played in 2 countries)
- Texas Holdem (Played in 2 countries)
While the data shows that Blackjack is being loved worldwide by people of age groups, it also shows how games like Teen Patti has climbed up the ladder of popularity in more countries apart from established in markets like India. Betway research also shows that the game will be played globally by 2025.
Many movies have also inspired a few card games such as Molly’s Game and Casino Royale which has shown potential and has also impacted the popularity of poker.
